What is Cross Cultural & Cultural Diversity Consulting?

Cultural Diversity Consulting refers to the practice of advising individuals, organizations, and businesses on how to effectively navigate and adapt to different cultural contexts. Cultural Diversity Consulting is increasingly important in today's globalized world, where intercultural communication and understanding are essential for success in many areas of life. As a Global Cultural Consultant, I have expertise in the Southwest Asian and North African (SWANA) region, with a focus on the Middle East in educational contexts. 


What I do as a Cross Cultural Consultant & Educational Advisor for your organization:


As a Cross Cultural Consultant, I can assist your business or organization in identifying cultural differences, understanding their impact on communication and business practices, and providing guidance on how to overcome cultural barriers and achieve successful outcomes. I offer the following services:

• Cross-cultural training;

• Cultural sensitivity assessments;

• Advise on diversity, equity and inclusion strategies. 

I also assist as an Educational Consultant for institutions of education in the United States and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) within the international development sector. Collaborating with local stakeholders and community leaders, we work to meet the educational needs of target groups, such as refugees, domestic workers, and other populations. I offer the following services:

• Collaborate with teachers and learners to aid in students’ success;

• Provide teacher training workshops on pedagogy and practice;

• Advise on educational materials and staffing.

 ABOUT ME

Shireen Keyl, Ph.D.

Greetings! My name is Shireen Keyl, and I would love to help your organization develop the cultural knowledge and skills as you build relationships with your global partners. With heritage ties to the Middle East and several years living, working, and conducting research in the region, I am highly skilled at teaching cultural competency through workshops, courses, focus groups, and one-on-one training. As a trained social scientist, I can assist with on-the-ground assessments using mixed methods research methodologies.  

I have worked in the international development sector as a researcher and consultant for 15 years and I am currently an assistant professor of education at a public institution in the United States. My recent book, Development, Education, and Participatory Action Research to Empower Marginalized Groups, (2022) published by Routledge, draws on a rich variety of qualitative research methods to  explore the transformational potential of social change makers within the international development sector.
